RIIRIS402E G2 Risk Management Course
Description
The G2 course, formally known as RIIRIS402E, is the nationally recognised unit of competency for risk management in Queensland mining. It is designed for mine workers who are required to demonstrate risk management competency as a statutory or employer condition of their role.
This applies across coal and metalliferous mine sites throughout Queensland. Workers who complete the course leave with the RIIRIS402E qualification, satisfying the risk management requirement set out under Queensland mining legislation. This meets the obligations placed on workers appointed to roles where facilitating or overseeing risk management processes is a core function.

RIIRIS402E is the current accredited version of the qualification, superseding the earlier RIIRIS402D. Workers who hold the older version should confirm with their employer or site whether they need to upgrade to the current unit.
Is the G2 specific to coal mining, or is it required across all mine sites?
The G2 course applies across both coal and metalliferous mining operations in Queensland. Workers should confirm the specific requirements of their site or employer before enrolling, as obligations can vary.
